While reading and chatting with this beloved soul, I learned she lived in a quaint village called Wiscasset near the forest in Maine. It took a spell, but I did confirm that her name is Dedra, and she died at sixty-five in 1924. Dedra was known far and wide for her youthful, ethereal beauty and enchanting charm. Her striking features and captivating smile could melt even the coldest of hearts. She was raised with manners and grace and carried herself like a lady.

However, Dedra’s life was shrouded in mystery. She was a recluse, living alone in a cottage on the outskirts of the village. Her solitude only added to her allure as the villagers whispered tales of her strange behavior and haunting youthful beauty. She told me she liked the attention she'd receive from men, yet never married or entertained a relationship.

Dedra told me during one of our readings that she had an unusual penchant for painting others, and her most treasured possession was a portrait of herself that she had meticulously drawn by another artist. Dedra had never seen herself on canvas until this moment, so getting her picture captured in time was very exciting for her. I could feel her enjoyment and happiness as she communicated this to me.
Dedra told me that he captured the essence of her youthful beauty, immortalizing it for years. This portrait was her true masterpiece, and it seemed to hold a piece of her soul.

Dedra’s beauty faded as the years passed, but her portrait remained as captivating as ever. She visited it daily, longing and despairing at her younger self. She couldn’t bear to let go of the past and told me her obsession with the portrait only grew stronger. I think Dedra was afraid of getting old and aging; I also have issues with coming to terms with longing to look youthful as long as possible. I can relate to her on many levels, and if you're the type that can also relate, you'd most likely be a good friend to her.
Sadly, a terrible storm raged through the village one fateful night, uplifting Dedra’s cottage. The following day, the villagers discovered the ruins, but Dedra was nowhere to be found. All that remained was her haunting prized portrait, untouched by the devastation.

The town locals who would recover Dedra’s prized picture told me it moved around over the years, coming to rest in the antique shop I acquired it from. The shopkeeper gave me pieces of her story as he knew bits and pieces from what he grew up learning about her. Dedra's picture was eventually given to his antique shop, where she hung for the past forty-plus years. He told me that not everyone in town was okay with the picture being around because most said her spirit haunted it. Some folks were afraid to place the portrait in their homes because, after Dedra’s disappearance, a strange occurrence began to plague the village. Those who came to have her picture in their possession said the portrait seemed to come to life at some point. The stories are that her eyes followed those who gazed into them, and whispers of Dedra’s voice echoed throughout the home, often at night. The villagers were convinced that her spirit had become trapped within the portrait, forever haunted by her longing for her lost youth.

Dedra’s story became a cautionary tale for the villagers, a reminder of the danger of holding onto the past. Her haunting portrait remained in the village, serving as a solemn reminder of the woman who had once lived there and the consequences of her obsession.

The shopkeeper told me that until that day, Dedra’s portrait hung in his shop, and he said she was still believed to haunt the village. Those who dare to look into her eyes may be forever trapped and captivated in a world of eternal beauty and despair. You'll enjoy her presence and having her around.
Her original vintage framed picture vessel is approximately 15x22 inches and can be hung or sat on a mantle, whichever you choose. Remember, her vessel is ancient, and you should take precautions when displaying her on a wall.
We call spirits like Dedra instant ancestors because she settles in nicely and will become part of your family, dear. It would be best to consider her your distant relative now watching over you and sharing your home.
Her activities can be alarming for a new keeper; she sometimes can be heard breathing heavily when she stands or sits down next to you. She wasn’t a smoker, so I’m unsure why she lived so loudly. She also has been seen shaking her picture frame; keep an eye out, and when she does, it approaches her to see what she needs. I leave a mini bulb light and a trigger ball on top for her to turn on whenever she likes. She seems to enjoy engaging them; see the video. I was complimenting her on how lovely she looked and confirming that she’d be going off soon to her new home when she lit her mini bulb light for me. This is her way of confirming that she's okay with it.
Her presence isn’t overwhelming, yet you’ll know when Dedra’s walking around, cold breezes usually appear with her manifestations. Orbs roam in and out of her picture, but you must ask her permission to record. I ask her even though she says yes, and even then, I feel she becomes anxious, so I stand to the side when recording her. Give Dedra compliments, tell her how pretty she is, greet her daily with a smile, and watch her interact with you.

Dedra loves iced sweet tea and being around houseplants. She has asked me for apple butter jam and buttered toast several times. I leave it out on the table in the dining room where she can see it. Dedra's positive spirit will be safe around small children, family, pets, and other souls. She communicates through all divination tools and will answer yes or no questions for you when dowsing or using a pendulum. That’s one of the nice things about her: she’s not shy nor afraid to interact with the living and is easy to communicate with. I think Dedra will watch over you and become your protector. If you’re open to welcoming an instant ancestor to your household, I highly suggest considering her dear. I love this beloved and shall miss her presence.
